FAQs

Is this product considered pregnancy or nursing-friendly?

This product is not recommended for use while pregnant. We recommend consulting your healthcare provider for any specific concerns.

How often should I use Polishing Pads?

Start slow. For use on the face, we recommend 1-2 times per week at night. Use them on alternating days with Toning Pads to avoid over-exfoliation. For the body, they can be used daily.

Are there products I should avoid when using Polishing Pads?

To reduce chances of sensitized reactions, skip your Toning Pads and retinoid the day you use the Polishing Pads.

What skin types are Polishing Pads best for?

They’re best for normal, oily, and combination skin types or anyone looking to address:

  • Uneven tone and texture
  • Breakouts or congestion
  • Dullness or lack of glow
  • Fine lines and early aging

If your skin is dry or sensitive, start with Toning Pads instead and graduate to Polishing Pads once your skin barrier feels strong.

Will my skin feel sensitive after using Polishing Pads?

You may experience increased redness, breakouts, sensitivity and/or dryness when first starting this product. Mild tingling or temporary redness right after use is normal — it means the acids are doing their job. If you experience peeling, tightness or burning:

  • Splash with cool water
  • Stop for a few days
  • Focus on barrier repair with Hydrating Lotion
  • Reintroduce slowly at a lower frequency
Can I use these in the mornings?

Yes, but be sure to wear your SPF. These pads contain an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that may increase your skin’s sensitivity to the sun and the possibility of sunburn.

If you’re planning a long day out in the sun with exposed skin, we recommend using Polishing Pads in your evening routine in place of Toning Pads.

How do I incorporate multiple Barefaced skincare pads?

Polishing Pads can be used 1-2 nights a week on the face and they can be used daily on the body. The Polishing Pads do not replace the daily use of Toning Pads/II, but on the day you use a Polishing Pad you will skip the use of Toning Pads/II.

How do I apply my products?

We wrote you a blog post all about it! Check out How to Layer Your Skincare Products for more info.

Reviews

An absolute favorite

"I’m a huge skincare advocate. My grandma started me young on moisturizing, sunscreen, and taking care of my skin. The idea of a chemical exfoliant never clicked with me. I was always scared with my super sensitive skin. Boy was I wrong! This is a game changer. Between this and the toning pads, I’ve been changed ❤️"

Shelly T. (5/5)

Stellar

"I’ve been a Barefaced client using other items for a while now but had wanted to branch out and try the polishing pads. I am so glad I did! It’s been a nice addition to the routine and I like that I only need to use them 2-3 times a week to see results."

Lauren T. (5/5)

Highly recommend

"This product has transformed my arms!!! I've always had those pesky bumps on my arms. . . and tried many different scrubs and products to get rid of them. Nothing worked until I tried the Polishing Pads. Absolute game changer."

Trista J. (5/5)

Not sure. .

"I love the concept of these pads! especially that you can use them for your body. However, each time I use them on my face, it stings and itches so much. When it happened the first time I thought it was normal, but after the third time my skin might be too sensitive for them. They have been great on my body chest & back area though."

Cristel P. (3/5)

Great product

"I am 75 years old and all my friends are complementing me on how my face looks. I love these pads. I use them to clean my face"

Nancy s. (5/5)

Best ever!!

"I am loving the new Polishing Pads! For now, I am using them once/week at night and that’s enough. I like the larger size pad - i use it on my face just and then swipe both feet ;) Excellent product!"

Abbe C. (5/5)

Game changer

"Love these polishing pads ! My skin is no longer dull and the texture has improved so much! Love adding these in a couple times a week!"

Kellie M. (5/5)

Polished, Smooth, and Glowing

"The Barefaced Polishing Pads have completely transformed my skin. What used to look and feel like fish scales is now silky smooth, soft, and glowing. These pads gently exfoliate while still keeping my skin hydrated, and I’ve noticed such a big difference in texture and overall brightness. They make my skin feel refreshed, polished, and confident every time I use them. If you’re looking for something that takes rough, dull skin and turns it into smooth, glassy goodness. . this is it."

Keshia M. (5/5)

Surprisingly Effective

"I ordered these on a whim, a couple of months ahead of my wedding. I know Barefaced makes quality products, and was willing to try anything to make my skin look its best in preparation for photos. After a couple of weeks of use, I feel like my skin is smoother and a bit more elastic/firm, and will continue to use them. I’m excited to see what continued use may do."

Andrea M. (5/5)

Love this product

"I have a lot of age spots on my face and my legs. This product seems to really be helping."

Q&A

Are these safe to use if you have dry skin but sometimes eczema
Hi Jamie! If you have active eczema or very dry, compromised skin, we would recommend to pause on the Polishing Pads. They’re a form of exfoliation, and when your barrier is impaired, exfoliating can increase irritation, stinging, and flaring. If your eczema is well-controlled and your skin is stable, you might tolerate them 1x weekly. But we'd recommend to start very slowly and stop immediately if you feel burning or tightness. With eczema-prone skin, barrier first, exfoliation second. Please feel free to reach out to us at hello@barefaced.com with any additional questions or concerns, we're happy to help!
I like to do spray tans, but I am worried the polishing pads will take off my spray tan faster. Is this the case? Do you have any recommendations on how to incorporate the polishing pads if you are a spray tanner?
Hi Irini! Polishing Pads are a chemical exfoliant, so they speed up skin turnover and will fade self-tanner more quickly. If you want your tan to last, skip them; if you’re trying to even out or remove a tan, they’re great.
Does this help with strawberry skin?
Hi Alyssa! Polishing Pads are great for KP! For use on the body, use daily or as needed to target rough, bumpy skin. If new to body exfoliation, patch test a small area at night before broader use. Gradually increase frequency as tolerated. Please feel free to reach out to us at hello@barefaced.com with any additional questions, we're happy to help!
What routine do you follow when using these? Just moisturizer or can the retinoid follow it?
Hi Molly! For Polishing Pads start slow. Use once a week on the face to assess tolerance (skip Toning Pads and retinoid on those days). After applying the Polishing Pads to the face, you can follow up with Liquid Gold, Overachiever and a moisturizer. For the body, patch test a small area at night before applying more broadly. If no irritation occurs, gradually increase to daily use. Please feel free to reach out to us at hello@barefaced.com with any additional questions, we're happy to help!
Can these be used on your body and face while pregnant? Thanks!
Hi Becca! Polishing Pads are not considered pregnancy friendly. For a daily exfoliant during pregnancy, we would recommend Toning Pads I or II dependent on your skin type. Please feel free to reach out to us at hello@barefaced.com with any additional questions- we're happy to help!
