All of our products are considered pregnancy safe except for the Glow Peel Pads and RetinAL Skin Therapy.
Retinoids (found in RetinAL Skin Therapy) and glycolic acid (found in Glow Peel Pads) are poorly absorbed after topical application, and therefore considered a low risk to the nursing infant. We always recommend consulting with your OB prior to use!
Totally! Increased breakouts can happen when you start a new product with active ingredients like salicylic acid, glycolic acid and retinoids. These breakouts generally last 6-8 weeks.
When changing your routine or incorporating clinical grade products, there is an expected adjustment period when using them because of the high level of active ingredients in the product. It’s not uncommon for them to sting, tingle, induce redness or cause higher sensitivity initially.
An allergic reaction would look like more of a hives type reaction, where the product caused a rash to the areas it was applied. If you have any concerns about your skin or the products you’re using, please send us an email so we can help guide you through this transition.
Product Usage Tips
Every product has their own specific usage tips on their page in the shop. When you start incorporating products with active ingredients such as glycolic acid, salicylic acid or retinoids, it’s best to introduce each product gradually. Start by using the product three times a week on alternating days and gradually increase to once or twice daily (as tolerated) depending on the recommended use of the product.

The Hydrating Lotion enhances the efficacy of retinoids, glycolic, and salicylic acid. It has niacinamide in it so a slight burning sensation isn’t uncommon with initial usage, especially if you are starting a brand new routine or introducing other active ingredients like the Toning Pads or Vitamin C serum. The goal with clinical-grade products is to induce change in the skin at the cellular level, which means we want to see a bit of a “reaction” from the skin with application — as long as it’s not an allergic reaction.
You might see more breakouts when you first start using a new routine that includes ingredients like retinoids, glycolic, salicylic acid, or l-ascorbic acid. It’s so normal that one-in-four people experience this. Essentially, it is making everything that was going to come out eventually come out much quicker. It can take between 6-8 weeks for your skin to adjust, but usually it only takes 2-4 weeks.
We don't recommend using the Toning Pads or Glow Peel Pads until you’ve been off Accutane for 6 months. The Brightening Serum and a C+ Correcting Complex would be great options for your skin until you have been off Accutane for at least 6 months. For even more glow, pair the Vitamin C and Brightening Serum together to reduce hyperpigmentation and calm your skin.
*Everyone's skin is different, so we always recommend testing the product on your forearm or behind your ear to see if a reaction occurs prior to using it on your face. Make sure you check in with your prescribing derm before use too.
Yes and no. Retinoids are totally fine to use together with Toning Pads but they can be irritating at first! If you’re new to the combo, we recommend using the Toning Pads in the AM and your retinoid at night. You can start using Toning Pads in the PM once you know your skin is tolerating them without dryness or sensitivity in the morning.
If you’re incorporating Brightening Facial Wash and Toning Pads into your regimen for the first time, we recommend switching them every other day. So, on Monday you’d use a gentle cleanser before the Toning Pads and on Tuesday you’d apply the Brightening Facial Wash. Then repeat!
If your skin starts to feel irritated, we recommend stopping the Brightening Facial Wash and using a gentle cleanser with the Toning Pads. Only re-introduce the BFW when your skin feels normal from the regular use of Toning Pads.
Toning Pads with Glow Peel Pads:
Use the Toning Pads in the morning and evening (optional) after applying cleanser.
Use Glow Peel Pads in the morning 1-3 times a week in place of Toning Pads.
If you prefer to use the Glow Peel Pads at night, use 1-3 times a week at night (and skip retinoid that night).
Applies to products with these active ingredients: All acids (except HA) + Retinoids.

To minimize sensitivity (dryness, redness, irritation), we recommend gradually introducing new products with actives mentioned above. Start with using ANY new product 3 days/week on alternating days. If adding in more than one new product, start each product the same way, but on different days. Follow that schedule for 2 weeks. If the product usage allows for more frequent use and your skin feels normal (balanced, healthy, hydrated) with no sensitivity, then increase usage frequency by one day (so up to 4 days/week). Continue that introduction method as tolerated. If you are happy with the way your skin looks and feels with a few times/week of usage, then you do not HAVE to keep increasing frequency of use.

Shop Pay Installments is a buy now, pay later option. Paying in installments on Shop Pay allows you to split your purchase amount into 4 equal, biweekly installment payments—with 0% interest, no hidden or late fees, and no impact on your credit score.
Shop and checkout as normal. At checkout, choose the Shop Pay Installments option as your payment method. After clicking "Complete Order," you will be redirected to Shop Pay to complete your purchase securely. Orders placed using Shop Pay Installments will be processed and delivered like all other orders.
Your first payment will either be due at checkout or 2 weeks after your purchase. The next 3 remaining installments will be automatically charged to your card saved on Shop Pay every 2 weeks. And don't worry, you'll get an email reminder before each payment to keep you in the know.

Yes! You can purchase a gift card here. We offer a variety of denominations to choose from. Gift cards are non-refundable and are final sale.
If purchasing a gift card for someone else, select the gift card amount you wish to purchase and follow through with the checkout process like normal. Once the order is submitted, the gift card will be emailed to you with instructions on how to redeem it. Simply forward this email to the intended recipient!

To update your billing information on existing subscriptions, simply log in to your account, go to Manage Subscriptions and select the "Update Billing" button. From here, you will be sent an email to securely update your billing information.

Subscription orders will be shipped Standard Shipping and will incur a flat rate of $9.95 on each renewal. Free Shipping is offered for subscription orders over $99.
If you have multiple subscription products and want them to ship together to receive the Free Shipping rate, make sure the products have the same upcoming order dates and are combined under one address and payment method. If you want to add products to your subscription to reach the $99 Free Shipping minimum, we recommend adding products to upcoming subscription orders through the customer portal versus purchasing a new subscription order altogether. You can even add one-time purchases to your order through the customer portal!
Please note, Free Shipping is determined by the subtotal of the products after discounts have been applied.

Your Barefaced Rewards tier is determined by the amount you spend in a 12-month period, starting when you reach a certain tier.
Vibrant Tier, you must spend $750
Barefaced Tier, you must spend $2,750
Once your spend hits the next tier, you will instantly move up and have access to that tier’s perks for 12 months.
You’ll get an extra special email that welcomes you into the new tier once your spend hits that level! When you are logged in, you can also check your tier status at any time on the Rewards page.
200 points = $10 Barefaced dollars
Higher tiers earn more points at a faster rate, but 200 points always = $10.
Here’s how it works: as the Fresh tier, you earn 1x point for every dollar you spend. So, if you spend $200, you’ll earn 200 points = $10.
When you join the Vibrant tier, you earn points 1.25x faster, so that $200 spend earns 250 points and becomes $12.50 in Barefaced dollars.
The Barefaced tier earns points 1.5x as fast, earning $15 Barefaced dollars on every $200 purchase.
There are two ways you can redeem points for rewards on new purchases.
We recommend following this method! Once you have enough points, you will be shown the option to redeem them for a reward at checkout. Please make sure you are signed in to you account! Select the reward you wish to use from the drop down menu and it will automatically apply to your order. Your points will be deducted once the order is submitted. This is the simplest way to use your rewards!
You also have the option to redeem points directly from the Rewards page by signing in and scrolling down to the section on how to use points. Click "redeem" on the reward you wish to add to your order. It will ask "Are you sure?" - if you select "yes," points are immediately deducted from your account and a discount code is displayed. Copy this code and paste it at checkout.
Please note, two rewards cannot be redeemed on one purchase - you cannot redeem a reward using the copied code and by selecting a reward from the drop down menu. If you have already copied a code from the Rewards page, we suggest continuing with this method at checkout (versus choosing a reward from the drop down menu) since the points have already been deducted from your account. Only a maximum of $20 in rewards can be redeemed on one order.

If you have an existing subscription, points can be redeemed for rewards and applied to upcoming orders.
Sign into your account and go to the Manage Subscriptions tab. Your points balance is displayed with the option to "Redeem" a reward if you have enough points. Select the reward you want to redeem. It will ask "Are you sure?" - when you select "yes," your points are immediately deducted and a code is displayed. Copy the code and paste it under the "Apply My Rewards" link next to the subscription you wish to apply it to.
Once saved, the page will refresh showing that the code has been added and it will automatically apply on the date the subscription renews.
You may also find the redemption codes on the Rewards page in the section on "Using Points on Existing Subscriptions" - copy the code from here and navigate back to the Manage Subscriptions tab within your account to paste it under the "Apply My Rewards" link.
If checking out with Shop Pay, when you first go to checkout and are directed to Shop Pay, go to “checkout as guest” within Shop Pay. This will direct you back to the Barefaced checkout where you can select to use rewards points/discounts/Barefaced gift cards. Once you submit that, you should be able to get back into Shop Pay to complete the order.
(Alternate method): If you usually redeem your rewards points prior to checkout, you can also add your reward code to the “Add a discount code or gift card” section in Shop Pay. First, you will want to go to the Barefaced Rewards page and click Redeem My Points. Make sure to copy the reward code. Then you will paste that reward code in the “Add a discount code or gift card” box in Shop Pay.
Your points will expire after one year of inactivity. Inactivity includes not interacting with our program, making purchases, or redeeming points.
